Ormazd, the Delegator. The source of all goodness and light, the limitless sky. Ahura-Mazda made the first living creature, The beneficent bull. All sacred others come from Him. Jupiter-Ormazd also initiaded the Mediator. Mithra after born was taked with establishing and maintaining order in nature.
Mithra, the Mediator. On the banks of a river, under a sacred tree he was generated from a rock. He emerged naked, pure, and untouched, adorned with a Phrygian cap. Armed with a knife and a torch, that illuminated even the darkest depths. Shepherds drew near, offering the divine infant the first fruits. Mithra concealed himself on a fig tree, ate its fruit, and made garments from its leaves. Even though there were shepherds these events occurred before the Call of the humans. Equipped for the adventure, Mithra challenged the first power, the Sun. In a fierce battle, Helios was forced to submit. At the end of the battçe Helios on the ground look upwards and saw the extend right hand of Mithra. From then on Mithra and Helios were inseparable.
Mitra had to confront the second power. The beneficient bull. The hero, knowing his task resort to a bold stratagem. The sacred animal grazed on a pasture on the mountain-side. Mithra patiently waited, then seize it by the horns and mount it. The infuriated quadruped broke into a long gallop. Although dethroned by the bull's mad charge, never relaxed his hold. the bull finally exhausted by its efforts, was forced to surrender. The hero seized the bull by its hind hooves, dragged it backward over a treacherous road. He reached the cave which served as his home. But the bull, succeeded in making its escape from its prison, and roamed again to the mountain pastures. The Sun then sent the raven, the message was to Mithra slay the bull. Mithra received this cruel mission much against his will. However he submitted to decree of his Heavenly father. The hero pursued the beast with his agile dog, succeeded in overtake it. The bull was again trapped in the cave. By the nostrils with his left hand he grabbed it and with the right he plunged his hunting-knife deep into its flank.
Silvanus. From the body of the sacred animal all the useful herbs and plants that cover the earth sprang. From its spinal cord the wheat, from its blood the vine tha produce the sacred drink of the Mysteries. In vain the Adversary launch his demons to attack the animal do poison it the sources of life. The Scorpion, Ant and Serpent tried to consume the genital parts and drink its blood. But they were powerless, they could not to impede the miracle of life. The seed of the bull, gathered and purified by the Moon, produced all the different species of useful animals, and its soul, under the protection of the dog, the faithful companion of Mithra, ascended into the celestial spheres above, where, receiving the honors of divinity. It became under the name of Silvanus the guardian of herds.
The beginning and the first cataclysm. Mithra's sacrifice sprang life into earth and now it was his responsability to look over nature. In Earth the first man and woman were Called into existance and the human was offered to him. In the early days the adversary tried to destroy the human race. Ahriman first desolated the land by causing a protracted drought, after the inhabitants implored to the god Mithra. The divine archer discharged his sun-rays against a great moutain, and there gushed forth from it a spring of living water. A great flood depopulate the earth, which was overwhelmed by the waters of the rivers and the seas. One man, secretly advised by the gods, had constructed a boat and had saved himself, together with his family and cattle, in an ark which floated on the broad expanse of waters. Then a great fire devastated the world and completely consumed the dwellings of men and animals. However the blessed creatures of The Delagator survived. Then now humans were permitted to grow fully and multiply.
The last supper. The terrestrial mission of Mithra was accomplished. In a Last Supper, which the initiated commemorated by mystical love feasts, he celebrated with Helios and the other companions! Then the gods ascended to the Heavens. Carried by the Sun on his radiant quadriga. Mithra crossed the Ocean, however, one last time the adversary tried to send sea creatures to defeat him, but to no avail. Finally, Mithra took up his habitation with the rest of the immortals. But from the heights of Heaven he never ceased to protect the faithful ones that piously served him.
